About FOCAPO 2012

FOCAPO 2012 (Foundations of Computer-Aided Process Operations) convened a group of international experts from industry, academia, and consulting companies to discuss new directions and challenges in process operations.

Technical sessions of FOCAPO 2012 covered the topics of enterprise-wide optimization, optimization of multiscale systems, risk management, sustainable enterprise management, integration of operations and control, and new domains for operations & control research. In addition, an educational session addressed educational challenges and opportunities at the interface between operations, optimization and control.

Throughout the conference, panel discussions addressed topics in enterprise-wide and supply chain management; integration of planning, scheduling and control; emerging technologies in the energy field; optimization; risk and uncertainty in operations. In addition to oral presentations and panels, two poster sessions showcased recent developments for both academic and industrial participants. A special issue of Computers and Chemical Engineering is planned and will be devoted to carefully selected papers from this conference.
